Mizuchi-do, the “way of the dragon”, is a martial art system that evolved from the practice of Isshin-ryu. It was developed by Master Bill Reynolds of the Mizuchi Dojo in Williamsville, NY. He did so to return his practice of karate to what he felt was more classical, consistent with its Okinawan origin and the spirit of karate training prior to the late-20th century, while still holding on to much of what is great about Isshin-ryu. The name of the system is also intended to honor the founder of Isshin-ryu, Master Shimabuku, whose nickname was “dragon man”. This book serves as a guide to the thinking behind this transformation and practice of karate.
