Kraków is Poland’s most historic tourist city and is located in the south of the country on the banks of the Wisla (Vistula) river. Close to the Carpathian Mountains, Kraków has a population of over 1.5 million. Kraków's historic Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage site and is the city’s most popular destination. Warsaw is referred to as the 'Phoenix City' and Poland's capital city was rebuilt after the Second World War when 85% of the city's buildings were destroyed. Today Warsaw has much to offer the tourist and boasts many historic sights. The city’s Old Town with its colourful market squares and rows of tall townhouses, features on the UNESCO World Heritage site list.
