Now a Starz® Original Series
"Utterly convincing and engrossing---totally thought-through and frequently hilarious....Even this aging, jaded, attention-deficit-disordered critic was blown away." --Lev Grossman, Time

Myfanwy Thomas awakens in a London park surrounded by dead bodies. With her memory gone, she must trust the instructions left by her former in order to survive. She quickly learns that she is a Rook, a high-level operative in a secret agency that protects the world from supernatural threats. But there is a mole inside the organization, and this person wants her dead.

Battling to save herself, Myfanwy will encounter a person with four bodies, a woman who can enter her dreams, children transformed into deadly fighters, and terrifyingly vast conspiracy.

Suspenseful and hilarious, THE ROOK is an outrageously imaginative thriller for readers who like their espionage with a dollop of purple slime.

This was a quick and interesting read. If you have a free saturday and don't mind a few moments where its hard to suspend disbelief this is an entertaining and slightly humorous romp :)

The Rook is an impeccably-written story that mixes the real and supernatural in perfect proportions. I literally avoided work for a full day in order to finish reading this book. It was worth taking a sick day.

  • I loved this book!

Great characters, a unique story, would love to read the sequel if and when it is written. I did find the story getting bogged down sometimes, the pacing a bit off, but it ends big and fast, you won't be disappointed.
  • Engrossing

    By CCallahan011
Completely engrossing, this book enthralled me from the first paragraph. I read a fair amount and this is the best book I've read in quite a while. The back stories and character developments are revealed alongside the plot developments in a very well written tale that has made me long for another book from this author. The premise of the story was unique and as you start out discovering everything alongside the main character, her identity and why she's in danger; demanded my attention. I've already recommend this book to several of my friends and will continue to do so.

This has been one of the most fun reads I've done in a while. I pray there will be a squel.
  • The Rook delivers.

    By Beck$TN
The Rook is fast paced, funny, and thoroughly entertaining. The only criticism is the ending. I think there are multiple endings (perhaps the author wasn't sure about how to end the book) but that is okay. I hope this becomes a series. Read it!
