The story narrates about two young men called Damon and Pythias, who are very good friends, and love each other like brothers. But it happens that Pythias in some way rouses the anger of Dionysius, a ruler, who puts him in prison, and condemns him to death in a few days. Pythias is not afraid the death, but he would die easier if he had an opportunity to find a protector for his sister. The unfailing friend offers to take his place in prison to let Pythias gratify his last wish...
